Defective tires. Sidewall bubble formed within 1000 miles. Rear inside sidewall blowout within 2100 miles. No damage to any part of tire or car evident. Sidewall blowouts are rare on a new tire. Must common reasons are under inflation or defective tires. Service personal blamed the roads. But no help.

Back in 2016, I purchased a new 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander for my wife. She has a full time job as a teacher and uses the car on the daily.

I purchased this car from Mitsubishi official dealer: MICHAUD MITSUBISHI 80 Andover St Danvers, MA 01923 phone 877-890-****. When purchasing this car, it was advertised as a new car with a warranty of 10 years for 100000 miles. Recently, in 2022, I noticed the car needed some repairs. The front shocks need to be replaced and there is a gas leak from the exhaust pipe, which a local mechanic told me that it can be dangerous for the people inside the car if the car is not moving.

In August of 2022, I called the Mitsubishi customer service office to see if the warranty could cover the repairs needed for the car. The operator told me that the car was registered as a used car, and asked for me to call the dealership who sold me the car. When I called the dealership, they told me that the car was new, but I had to pay for all the repairs (which locally can cost over $1000). I called the Mitsubishi central office again, to double check if the warranty should cover the repairs, and what I should do if the car was registered as a used car (even though it was advertised as a new car).

They asked for additional documents, and there was a case opened (#0262**** and #469952).

After I sent the documents to customer service, there was no response back. Ive kept trying to call customer service, and have been told that I would get a call back, but there has once again been no response.

2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT has been in repair shops for over a year. In a Mitsubishi shop now for almost 8 months.

In December of 2022 I backed the car out of the garage so I could do some work. When I went to drive the car back in, it would not start.

The code reader showed no codes.

I looked at the timing. It was good. I replaced the timing belt, tensioner, crankshaft sensor and water pump while I was in there. Also, I changed the camshaft sensor.

Still wouldn't start. That was all I knew I could do.

I called Rein's Auto Repair in Hays, Kansas and they came and got the car.

The car was at Rein's Auto Repair for three months. Every time I called they stated they were waiting on a new ECU. I was told they received the new ECU and the car would not start.

They removed a remote start.

They finally stated that they did not have the computer system needed to repair the car.

They did get the drivers window stuck in the down position, and were unable to roll it up.

Rein's Auto Repair recommended having Import Parts & Repair LLC in Hays, Kansas work on the car.

I called them and they agreed to work on it. Rein's Auto Repair then hauled the car to Import Parts & Repair.

Import Parts & Repair had the car for about another 3 months. They were told by Rein's repair the ECU was rebuilt, not new. The following was listed on the Invoice:

They removed the driver's door panel to roll up the window.

They tested the antitheft system and located a failed Immobilizer unit. R&R ETACS-ECU . Programmed VIN & Mileage . Attempted key write to new unit .

Swapped to original. Replace ETACS ECU . Write VIN to ECU. Register encrypted Code .

Need PIN Code to Register Keys. ADVISE Key code from lock smith $ 30-125 4 Digit code ?? for anti theft

Non-Inventory Immobilizer Assy 850G-G8C505M , Omron G80-505M ,

OUCG8C-505M TIM Obsolete Must Purchase as

ECU/ Immobilizer Assy

Non-Inventory 8637A378 CONTROL UNIT,TIME & ALA

8637A378 ECU Kit

NLA / Obsolete 30292

After all of this, Import Parts & Repair told me that they didn't have the correct computer system to fix the car.

They recommended that I find a Mitsubishi dealer to work on the car.

I then called Family Mitsubishi in Wichita, Kansas. I explained what was going on and had them call Import Parts & Repair for information on what was wrong with the car.

They responded by saying that they would definitely not even look at the car.

I then called Murdock Mitsubishi in Manhattan, Kansas.

I explained what previously had gone on with the car and said that I would like to talk to a mechanic before I drag the car clear to Manhattan, Kansas.

The service manager stated, "Sir, we have three Mitsubishi mechanics. One has been here for over thirty years. We have access to the national Mitsubishi dealer repair hot line. We will fix your car".

So, on May 27th 2023 using a Uhaul dolly I hauled the car from Hays, KS to Murdock Mitsubishi in Manhattan, KS.

The scheduled appointment was on Thursday, June 1st of 2023.

Today is January, 23rd 2024.

The car is still at Murdock Mitsubishi in Manhattan. They have had the car for almost 8 months.

It has been very hard to get any communication from Murdock Mitsubishi. The only time they call is when we call for an update. Then it has been hard to get a call back.

I have been told they replaced the ECU with a new one, the old one was bad because it was rebuilt.

They replaced one of the key fobs. I was then told they would not be able to test the car anymore until they replaced the battery because it was bad. They replaced it. I have been told that wiring harnesses were replaced and another ECU was ordered and replaced because the first new ECU they received was defective.

And at this point I am not sure what else. We had to wait on some of these parts to arrive from Japan. We were told they were not available in the United States.

The last time I called, the service manager said that they were waiting on a new engineer from the Mitsubishi help line. The last engineer from the help line didn't know how to troubleshoot further so he was handing off the problem to another engineer.

I asked what we needed to do to get this car fixed, you've had the car for almost 8 month.

I was told maybe I should call Mitsubishi and try to get the ball rolling.

I was told by the service manager that their boss would be contacted and they would call me back after discussing this issue. That has been over a week ago, and again no call back.

My wife and I are very frustrated with this situation. We do not know what we can do to get this car repaired.

A Mitsubishi dealer with three Mitsubishi mechanics and Mitsubishi national access can't fix this car. Seems to me then that there is something seriously wrong with this model.

We only have one other vehicle and it is a 1997 f250 we have been using as a daily driver for over a year.

Not good on gas millage. We can't afford a new vehicle and don't want a repair bill that is more than the car is worth.

Hoping to find some help here.

Good afternoon, I just purchased a 2023 Mitsubishi outlander phev 3 weeks ago. During a snow storm I hit a curb at 5 mph and ended up doing significant damage to the suspension, including a cracked lower control arm. I believe that the control arm is not strong enough at this point. Is just wanted to bring this to your attenton. I have pictures. My car is currently in the shop at Skyline Mitsubishi Thornton, Colorado. Are there options for a stronger control arm? Steve Chizum

Dealership issue

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Dealership and finance person - Bob Horn:

I am BMW loyal customer for 20 years and decided to buy a Mitsubishi for the first time.

After visiting multiple car dealers, I found the perfect match in Daytona, Fl, 2h driving from my town.

After contacting the dealer multiples times, we agreed on:

$4000 down payment

$379 monthly for 24 months leasing.

They proceeded with credit score check (hard inquiry) and they called me to confirm the approval.

So I told them I would be driving next day to get the car.

Few minutes after, they called me again saying that they reviewed the numbers and they would have to increase the price because they need to include fees, taxes, license fees and he EVEN mention the first month lease.

At this point I was very upset because the price was already agreed and all the taxes and fees were supposed to be included in the down payment.

They asked me to increase the down payment in about $2k what would be near $6000.

After multiple calls and discussions, I agreed to pay $5000 down and $389/m.

They gave me the approval . Next day I drove 2h under massive rain.

When I get to the store, the sales man Paul came to me and said that Bob Horn (Finance manager) reviewed the numbers AGAIN and would need to increase the lease to $399/m.

I said NO, since we had already exhaustively discussed the numbers, I would not pay anything more than $5000 down and $389/m. Paul went back to the finance person (Bob Horn) and gave him the info.

I went to check the car before sign the lease. Everything was almost correct except the fact that the car had almost 200miles already, which is much more than expected for a NEW vehicle! My BMWs were always about 10-30 miles.

Almost 200?

What is the cutoff for Mitsubishi?? Why nobody told me that during the negotiations?

Okey.

When I got to the store to sign the papers with Bob. Guess what? He gave me the lease contract printed with $399/m.

I denied to sign until he correct it.

He pretended he didnt know about it and after unpleasant discussion he changed it. What if I didnt realize it was wrong? A totally dishonest attitude, clearly trying to trick me.

Finally, since Im buying a $50k car, I kindly asked for Bon Horn for the all-weather mats ($150 value). He said yes!

I walked out to the car and told Paul about it. When Paul walked back into the store to get it, Bob said NO!

They wont give it to me.

What kind of customer loyalty care is that?

Repetitively trying to trick me and lying to me?

Selling me a car with 200miles without telling me? Change the contact without telling me?

Honestly it was the worst experience ever buying a car!

I really hope that Mitsubishi will do something about this!

Thank you.

You needed to look around for a better deal. You are paying $14,000(Including $5000 down) over 24 months to lease a $50,000 car.

You are going to turn it back in and have nothing to show for it.

I also disagree with your loyalty claim wanting the $150 car mats. Isn’t this you first Mitsubishi?

Complaint against RC Hill Mitsubishi, Deland, Florida

Updated by user Jan 22, 2024

So far, it's obvious that Mitsubishi Motors is not willing to even read my complaint, much less try to help me resolve it. It's sad, but I am forced to hire an attorney. All I needed to do was to return a leased Mitsubishi that I chose not to keep, and I can't get...

Original review Jan 17, 2024
In July 2023, I went to RC Hill Mitsubishi, Deland, Florida, driving a 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL, which was paid for. I was interested in an upgrade.

They offered a 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV which I tried out and considered. They offered $27,000 trade and talked me into a deal that I understood to be that they would give me $17,000 check, the other $10,000 and $7,500 tax credit. I was to lease the car and pay the first 3 payments of $500 each, with a total net payoff of $19,000. Using the $17,000 check, I would only owe approximately $2,000 to $3,000 balance after the three months.

I took them at their word and signed the papers. It turned out to be a 3 year lease with Santander Consumer at $600 a month. They had me come back to the dealership twice to re-sign papers, saying they had messed something up, and made sure to collect the old paperwork they had given me. Each time, the payment increased.

They said they would send in the first payment. In August, I received phone calls from Santander stating I was past due. I had never received any paperwork from Santander, told them that, and they e-mailed and mailed me the first statement. I told the dealership about this, and they said for me to bring the payment to the dealership, make the check out to RC Hill, and they would send it on.

It took them over a week to send it to Santander, in the meanwhile Santander is still reminding me I am past due. After the 3rd payment, I requested a net payoff amount from Santander. It was over $37,000. I was shocked.

I went back to the dealership, who informed me that there was about $5,000 worth of charges for extended warranties, which I did not want. He contacted Santander and had those charges removed. The charges were credited to my account, bringing the net payoff down to $34,000, with the next payment being due April 2024. I have been credited with 9 payments, and I do not intend to make any more payments on this three year lease.

After several heated discussions with the dealership, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Santander instructed me to return the car to RC Hill Mitsubishi. I attempted to do that. The dealer refused to take the car unless I withdrew the complaint.

I told him I would do that, but he was so angry he said he wouldn't take the car back at all. He sent a text to my wife stating that if I left the car there, he would have it towed back to our house, and that we are not welcome at his business. Santander told me I could return the car to any dealership, even if it was not Mitsubishi. I was turned down by the Daytona Mitsubishi, Toyota, Subaru, and Chevrolet, all of whom told me I had been scammed but they were sorry they couldn't help me.

I do not want to keep the car and understand that relinquishing the car would hurt my credit. That doesn't matter to me. All I want to do is give the car back. It is in my driveway with no tag on it.

The tag that was on it belonged to me, and I transferred my tag to a new car which I just bought outright, no loan, no lease. Santander representative told me a few days ago that a dealership does not have to accept the car and that "you're just stuck with a car you're going to have to pay for". I have done everything I know to try to return a car that doesn't belong to me. I still have full coverage insurance on it, even though it can't be driven without a tag.

I will not cancel the insurance until the car is off of my property and in possession of someone else. Please help me give this car back to someone.

It is a nice car and needs to be enjoyed by someone not connected with this situation. Thank you.

Poor Experience at Dealership

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We bought a 2023 Outlander in April of last year at Northcoast Mitsubishi in Bedford, OH. The entire experience was the worst experience I have had purchasing a car.

Our previous vehicles were purchased at Classic Auto in Mentor, OH. We had the best service at Classic and would have bought a car from them but there was low inventory everywhere and that is the only reason we went to Northcoast. Since we purchased the car, the front fender was popping out. Each time it was taken to the dealer, they pushed it back it and by the time we got home it had popped out again.

We asked for it to be repaired by the body shop because the service department was obviously not able to fix it. The car has been back to the dealership several times with the same issue. Since we were not able to get it fixed through Service, I made an appointment with the body shop at the dealership.

We were told they were not going to fix it and they were not going to put any money in a car that was a year old - even though we have been dealing with this the whole year. This dealership is the worst and I tell everyone I know not to buy a car there even when we people ask because they like the car.

Dealership compromised my car's engine.

I purchased a 2013 OutlanderSport brand new from South Suburban Mitsubishi, located at 5343 Miller Circle Drive, Matteson IL 60443. In 2021, I went to have a regularly scheduled oil change.

At that time I was told that I needed to replace my oil pan. I had never had any problems with burning oil, or any serious mechanical issues with the car. As a matter of fact, this is my 4th Mitsubishi. I have always, and only purchased a Mitsubishi car.

I have never owned any other car. I had the general store manager, Dennis Boston, comp the oil pan, because another reputable Mitsubishi Dealership said that the oil pan is good for the life of the car. The other dealership also noted that the oil pan rings were more than likely stripped because of this oil change. Moving forward, my car continued to burn oil after that particular oil change.

Moving to the present day.

I continued to take my car back to this same dealership for oil changes and I have complained to them quite a few times about my concern. They never advised repairs to happen. On December 27, 2023, I was on the freeway when my car's engine through a rod. I was very fortunate to be able to exit the freeway.

They will not take any liability for this. Pictures were taken of my car prior to it being towed to the dealership. I have contacted the owner, and I have gotten no response.

I need some help. Thank you.

Ended u0 selling my car since they wanted 8k to fix it.

Original review Sep 19, 2023
The other day I noticed my rear crossmember on my 2015 Mitsubishi Evolution Final Edition was rusted through. One of the bolts to my A-Arm literally has nothing holding it at this point.

I have pictures if you need them. So, I reached out to 3 Mitsubishi dealerships in my area for repair/replace and they told me they cannot do it. I also cannot find and OEM one available and don't know how to do the work on my own since the whole rear cradle would need realigned. That is not even including all of the hardware that will most likely break off in my frame from rust as well.

Meanwhile the rest of my car is perfect. No issue. Besides some rust on the front crossmember as well. I already looked into recalls and saw that the front crossmember was recalled but only on older models.

From what I see the issue was not fixed on mine at all even though its a newer model. No crossmembers should rust the way mine has at only 67k miles. Insane. So...

at this point I am dead in the water with no repair capability or parts unless I got aftermarket at 4k for the part. I am planning on talking to a lawyer here within the next day or two about how I can handle this situation. No happy at all...

planned on owning this car for along time since it is 1 of 1600 of the Final Editions... If you can help me please do so or I will have a lawyer stepping in.
Pros:
  • Sporty and handles amazing in all weather
Cons:
  • Crossmembers

Preferred solution: At this point i would like the issue to be fixed free of charge since they knew about the issue with the front crossmember to begin with. It can be a fatal flaw. Or give me the value of my car and i will buy aftermarket if need be at almost 5k.

User's recommendation: Undercoat your car the day you buy it. Crossmembers (Kframe) are junk.

Car is almost 10 years old and you never looked at the undercarriage... This is b.s.

and you know it.

You see a defect but everyone is going to see neglect. Good luck bro

I seriously never looked. I did the exhaust a moth after i got the car and when i went to do tge coils since my front left started leaking is when i noticed a crack in the crossmember. Then took a tickler to it to remove rust only to find all the damage under it all.

For the record... my car is far beyond neglect unless your speaking of not undercoating.

The issues were covered by rust i found after seeing a crack and used a tickler to remove it all. I have looked under the car a moth in to owning to do the exhaust and just last week to put new coilovers on since my front strut was leaking. I have been raised my whole life on cars. No crossmember ahould rust to nothing in the matter of 67k miles.

I religiously was my car 2 times a week... especially during the winter months. If you call a crossmember rusting out in that amount of miles then you cant tell the difference between neglect and manufacture issues. Even after there was already a recall on the front one having the same exact issue and them knowing it was tgere fault and recalling it since they didnt use proper coating from the factory.

But... you cab vent and say whatever you like. Have fun with it. Not putting the Evo down in anyway...

love the car. Just not the crossmember issues.

Still you could've seen the progression of rust to prevent it from continuing. You can preach perfect ownership but that's neglect plain and simple.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2391299

A K frame shouldnt take special care at a mileage of 67k....period. its the only rust on my car.

You can say whatever you like... i for sure do not neglect my car. Even run amsoil 10w30 year round wgich costs me 100 bucks an oil change...

2 times a year. Say what you want...but the man i spoke with at mitsu already disagreed with your opinion so have at it.

Failed transmission

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I own a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander. On December 30th 2023 my transmission failed and was deemed unrepairable.

There is a crack on the side of the outside. It had less than 103,000 miles on it. The dealership informed me there is only one available transmission in the whole country and the quote for repair is unbelievable. Part alone was $8570.26, and labor $1520.

I really loved this vehicle but this transmission should have lasted longer and I feel like the part is way overpriced. When I originally bought the vehicle it was because I had faith in the brand and am now feeling like the brand was a mistake. I have purchased brand new vehicles of other brands and have had much success with those vehicles with much lower prices.

I have always taken great care of this vehicle and used high quality products in my maintenance of it. Are there any other options for me to get this problem resolved without having to spend a fortune to repair?

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Laurie Adams

I have a 2008 ONE OWNER RAIDER! I have 228k miles on it!

How I wish you still made these affordable trucks. I wanted you to know that this truck has survived 3 teens learning to drive (2 boys I might add- it has the dents to prove it)- this truck has been used a TRUCK. Sadly- parts are getting hard to find- and we have honestly put only minimal money into it as far as repairs. Routine maintenance has been done but no major repairs - same transmission (knock on wood!).

I just wanted to let you know how great this truck has been and that sadly we may have to finally look at getting something else- we have really enjoyed this truck.

Please reach out if you would have questions. I am sure not many people have kept their raiders this long.
